Ashlee and Jessica Simpson became one of the early aughts’ most beloved sister-duo, and the two are still the most supportive siblings. In fact, Ashlee is already hyping up her older sister’s new music before it’s even hit the streamers.
During a book launch event to benefit the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, Ashlee shared a a rare insight into her sister’s long-awaited return to music. “I just interviewed her today for something and that was so nice, so I’m excited and I’m really looking forward to that,” she told People, before describing the upcoming project as “delicious and yummy and honest.”

“I think the most important thing about being ready to strip your layers and be where you’re at and meet yourself musically and as an artist, she’s doing that and I’m very proud of her,” she gushed. “Her music is great, I’m very excited about it. And I think everybody will love it.”
Simpson previously teased the musical comeback with a cryptic Instagram post in November. “Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic,” she wrote in the caption. “This comeback is personal, it’s an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve.” Simpson released her debut album, Sweet Kisses, in 1999, with her most recent being 2008’s Do You Know.

Jessica’s new music comes on the heels of her separation from husband of 10 years, Eric Johnson. She confirmed the breakup in a statement to People in January. “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she revealed. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
